This was only going to be a blog post at first but the way it came out finally made me proud enough that I think it’s good enough and unique enough to promote this as a piece of my portfolio.
A few months prior to my father dying, he said when he gets better, he’d like to get a tattoo of crop circles on his forearm to which I replied, ‘Yea well if you don’t do it I will, don’t worry’ – and so I did.
Dad passed January 11th 2013 and the next day I started sketching in my notebook. I wasn’t sure at all what I wanted yet, so I took my time, risking impulse. It took a month or so to finish and another month to get myself to find an artist kind enough to copy/paste it straight to my arm.
So as you may or may not see, I’ve got a sort of twisted perspective on here intentionally. The crops are viewed from 90°, then flipped to a birds eye view, and back to 90. Crops spelling ‘dad’ and above, the beginning of the sky which I plan to expand on later on to space and the universe. I’ll keep more insight on the idea and process to the blog post.
