Huff Post

Dated - 2013

Huffington Post commissioned me to interpret pinnacle scenes from 9 popular teen movies. We spent quite a bit of time defining the balance of style and recognizability with the first movie. From that point it was pretty smooth sailing once we figured the level of iconography / homage to the scene we wanted and what worked best. A key element to the project was to make sure the interpretation was fun and unique, otherwise of course they could just use photos / screenshots of the films.

Sketches & Process

Defining the balance of authenticity to the original scenes with stylistic freedom was the trickiest part of things. We wanted the scenes to be instantly recognizable and trigger nostalgia, while keeping things cool and unique. Bueller went through a good amount of revisions in particular. What we settled on is the fine line of recognizable and artistically represented.
